RTI reveals fake documents to benefit from government scheme
3 Mar, 2013An application was filed with the medical department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) under the Right to information (RTI) Act seeking to get the copies of documents submitted for allotment of flats under the flat allotment scheme.
The data furnished in the reply shows that out of 207 documents provided by different government hospitals under the PCMC, 141 were found to be fake. The applicant also stated that most of such documents were procured from Jijamata Hospital. The Rs. 380 crore flat allotment scheme under Slum Rehabilitation Authority is being implemented by the municipal corporation in Sector 22 The provisions of this Act shall have effect notwithstanding anything inconsistent therewith contained in the Official Secrets Act, 1923 (19 of 1923), and any other law for the time being in force or in any instrument having effect by virtue of any law other than this Act. of Pradhikaran and 11, 760 flats are to be allotted to slum dwellers under the scheme.
The applicant has alleged that a racket is going on for providing fake documents to the people who don’t fulfill the criteria of beneficiary under government schemes in order to make them qualified for the same. The municipal commissioner of PCMC has said that the corporation has started an investigation in the issue and that stern action will be taken against those found responsible.
