RTI propels the state to make model answers for board examination public
22 Aug, 2013
An application was filed with the Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking to get the model answers of the recent board examination. The PIO of the MSBSHSE, in the reply to the application, declined to provide the demanded information stating that model answers were confidential documents, meant only for examination authorities.
The applicant then filed an appeal with the first appellate authority citing a Supreme Court judgment of 2011. Thereafter only, the model answer was provided to the applicant. However, earlier the activists had demanded from the MSBSHSE that the model answers of the Higher Secondary Certificate examination be posted on its official website. The demand was rejected by the MSBSHSE.
But, after being confronted by the RTI query, the MSBSHSE has now decided to upload the model answer on its official website. Why should separate applications be filed to the other Boards? Most of them are yet to follow the rules.
