RTI activist Muzaffar Bhatt to contest elections against Farooq Abdullah
3 Mar, 2014The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded prominent RTI activist Muzaffar Bhatt against National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah in Srinagar. Bhatt, who is making debut in politics, is confident that the corrupt would be shown the doors in the upcoming elections and aims to challenge the dynastic rule in Jammu and Kashmir. Immediately after being nominate, Bhatt started his door to door campaign. He also had his first public meeting after being nominated to contest the Lok Sabha elections where he said "Corruption has destroyed all established institutions in the country including the Jammu and Kashmir and the AAP would continue its struggle to eradicate this national menace." Bhat added that he would continue to use the RTI Act to expose corruption and malpractice in the state.
In the recent times, many individuals who had the donned the cap of an activist, have entered politics. Their long term impact on the system of administration would only be unfolded in the times to come.
