RTI activist attacked with a sharp weapon
11 Apr, 2013A 52 year old social worker Shri Digambar Pajgade was attacked with a sharp weapon. Shri Pajgade, a known RTI activist, has filed a large number of criminal cases in various courts against some top shots involved in land scam and misappropriation of MP's local development fund.
Wife of the activist reported that she was carrying Rs. 5,000/- in her purse and was going to the market with her husband. As soon as they got down from the bike, a 20-year-old youth (Mayur Vadafale) attacked Digambar with a sharp knife inflicting deep wounds on his head. Mrs. Pajgade also claimed that the attacker snatched away a gold chain and cash from her before fleeing from the spot.
The onlookers rushed Shri Pajgade to Government Medical College, where he was admitted in the emergency ward. Pajgade had also lodged a complaint with the police about the threat to his life and sought police protection. He has also filed a complaint with the IGP and demanded a probe into the activities of the attacker. The investigating PSI Naresh Randir said the police suspect old rivalry behind the attack. He also said that they have seized the weapon which the attacker had thrown roadside before fleeing.
