It was attended by a large number of Chief Executives/ Directors and senior Executives of PSEs.
Dr U D Choubey said many aberrations now necessitate review of the RTI Act, 2005 to bring suitable amendments. He demanded that the institution of CIC should also be strengthened to handle the large number of appeals pending for decisions. He asked for bringing private sector under the purview of RTI Act in India to bring transparency in their working.
Mr Rawat said that disclosure and transparency is the key for healthy governance and advised the PSEs to be proactive in disclosing the information so that RTI queries are reduced to the bare minimum in their organizations. He advised PSEs to implement the RTI Act in letter and spirit.
