Is the Right to Information Act to blame for the slow decision-making process?
13 Nov, 2012Speaking at an occasion to mark his two years in office, Prithviraj Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra has said that the Right to Information Act is to blame for the slow decision-making process in the state. He claimed that the bureaucrats had to be doubly sure that rules and procedures are followed before taking any decision. He also stated that officials have to ensure there is no violation of rules and procedures as anyone can seek the information. In the era of transparency, the copies of the notesheets are accessible to everyone which can point out the mistakes, if any.
