29 Nov, 2013Reason for not installing a telephone connection - PIO: due to road widening the cable passing near appellant’s premises has been damaged and the municipal authorities are not allowing the BSNL to lay new cables - Appellant: a telephone has been installed at his neighbour’s premises and his application should also be considered - CIC: PIO to immediately examine the technical feasibility of providing a connection to the appellant and if possible, may do the needful within four weeks
Information sought: The appellant vide receipt no. 0252526 dated 29/04/2010 had deposited a sum of Rs. 500/- for new telephone connection but till date it has not yet been installed, he wants to know the reasons for non-installation, how many such equipments were booked in January 2010 to till date at Khudbuda Mohalla, Park Road, Kanwri Road, Laxman Chowk etc, how many connection were installed, time prescribed for such installations, details of actions being taken on officers involved in such acts and other related information.
Grounds for the Second Appeal: The CPIO has not given the desired information.

The appellant stated that he had applied for a telephone connection on 29/04/2010 but till date the said connection has not been installed and he wants to know the reasons. The CPIO explained that due to road widening the cable passing near appellant’s premises has been damaged and the municipal authorities are not allowing the BSNL to lay new cables and hence they are unable to provide the connection. The appellant pointed out that after his application a telephone has been installed at his neighbour’s (viz. Mr. Akhilesh Kumar) premises and his application should also be considered. The CPIO stated that he will look into the matter and if technically feasible, will provide the connection.
Decision notice:
As agreed by the CPIO he should immediately examine the technical feasibility of providing a connection to the appellant and if possible, may do the needful within four weeks. The appeal is disposed of accordingly.
