Police department owes heavy amount to PCMC as rentals
6 Mar, 2013An application was filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking to know the amount of money that police department owes to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
The reply from the municipal corporation states that it has leased out its properties for the offices of deputy commissioner of police (DCP) crime branch unit III and DCP zone III. Further, civic properties are also being utilized for traffic police chowkies of Pimpri, Nigdi and Kasarwadi and Charholi and Bhosari police chowkies. Similarly Sangvi police station and Sangvi police chowki, both operate from properties owned by the PCMC.
The rental arrears owed by the police department to PCMC for Sangvi police station and Sangvi chowkey is Rs. 17.68 lakhs whereas the total amount due to be paid as rentals comes out to be around 38 lakhs. However, Additional PCMC commissioner also said that the PCMC also owes money to the police department for providing bandobast during anti encroachment activities of the corporation.
It is often seen that one government department owes money to another department for which they keep on raising fingers at each other. Can the seniors not settle the issue?
