NSS volunteers spread awareness about RTI in Patna
24 Feb, 2014The volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) across various educational institutions of Patna participated in an awareness programmes which was held as a part of the National Youth Policy (NYP) 2014.
The major issues taken up were:
· Right to Information (RTI)
· rights issues the budding lawyers have highlighted are
· Alcoholism,
· Rights of a person at the time of arrest,
· Importance of casting votes and
· Environment protection.
The mode used by the volunteers included street plays and interactive sessions. A blood donation camp was also held.
Youth belonging to the age group of 15-29 years comprise nearly 30% of the population. The NYP 2014 is a holistic vision to empower young Indian citizens in order to achieve their full potential and thus enable India to find its rightful place in the world community. The 11 priority areas of NYP 2014 include education, employment and skill development, entrepreneurship, health, sports, social values and community engagement and social justice.
