Is the new BJP Maharashtra headquarters unauthorised?
24 Jun, 2013The reply to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed that the new office for Maharashtra BJP headquarters at Nariman Point in Mumbai is unauthorised.
The reply to the application, provided by both the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the state public works department (PWD) which owns the land, clearly states that the new structure is not authorized. The PWD held in its reply that no permanent structure is allowed to come up on green space.
However, despite this revelation the apprehensions are that the concretization of the new office structure may still get the official permission of BMC. The PWD has already given no objection certificate to the new building.
The BMC had issued a show-cause notice to the BJP in April, 2013 replying to which the BJP sent a regularisation proposal which was sent to the building proposals department. Though the proposal has not been cleared yet but officials of the civic body told that it will be cleared soon.
