Nearly Rs. 8 crores paid as overtime at PMPML
Shortage of manpower with the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) is forcing them to make the existing drivers to work overtime. Reply to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) has revealed that on an average, the drivers collectively put in 32,072 man hours of overtime every month. PMPML has 1,778 drivers on its rolls and 567 drivers on contract. It has paid Rs 3.84 crore to drivers and Rs 3.90 crore to conductors for overtime in the last financial year. A batch of about 250 drivers will undergo one-month training in June and will join the staff from July. PMPML plans to hire 250 more drivers soon.
