Mohali Inter-State-Bus-Terminus project misses its third deadline
19 Nov, 2013
An application was filed with the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking to get the status details of the long-standing project of Mohali Inter-State-Bus-Terminus (ISBT).
The reply to the application states that the ISBT project on National Highway 21 was started in 2010 and till now has missed its three deadlines, the latest of them being November 15, 2013.
The reply states that the Delhi-based builder involved in the project will have to pay a penalty of nearly Rs. 40,000 per day, till the 225-feet tall building is complete or a new deadline is agreed upon.
This is to be mentioned that the builder has already paid a penalty of Rs. 5.52 crores to GMADA because as per the agreement, the contractor had to pay penalty at the rate of 0.05 per cent (approximately Rs. 40,000) of performance security per day.
The Superintendent Engineer of GMADA said that the delay was caused by constraints like inflation and lack of material.
