Ministers of Maharashtra fail to follow the directive of CM
23 Feb, 2013It was widely reported in the media that Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Prithviraj Chavan had directed all the ministers of his state to declare their assets on December 10, 2010. A reminder was sent on April 29, 2011 but 18 out of the 40 minister have yet not filed the details of their assets. In response to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, it has been informed that only 22 The provisions of this Act shall have effect notwithstanding anything inconsistent therewith contained in the Official Secrets Act, 1923 (19 of 1923), and any other law for the time being in force or in any instrument having effect by virtue of any law other than this Act. ministers have given details of their assets to the CM office in a closed envelope. The list of defaulters includes home minister R.R. Patil. Mr Thorat, Rajesh Tope, Vijay Kumar Gavit, Bhaskar Jadhav, Naseem Khan, Jayant Patil and Sachin Ahir are amongst the other ministers who have not followed the directive.
A demand has been made to the CM to take serious action against the ministers who have not followed the directives.
