Maharashtra Ministers fail to follow the orders of the Chief Minister

On December 10, 2010, the chief minister of Maharashtra Shri Prithviraj Chavan had issued directions to his ministers to disclose their assets after being sworn in as the chief minister. Reply to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed that only 57 per cent of ministers have followed the instructions. The reply received by activist Anil Galgali shows that merely 24 out of 42 ministers in the state of Maharashtra have given details of their assets to the chief minister’s office. out of 40 ministers had followed the directions of the CM.
The reasons for not following the directions of the CM were not available. It is not known whether any steps were taken to enforce the instructions.
