Madhya Pradesh invites applications for filling up the State Information Commission
17 Jun, 2013The general administration department (GAD) of Madhya Pradesh has come out with an advertisement seeking applications for filling the vacant post of the Chief Information Commissioner and the Information Commissioners in the state. As per the advertisement, the applications are to be submitted to the deputy secretary (right to information cell), MP Government General Administration Department, room number 445, Vallabh Bhavan by 5.30 PM on June 25.
Currently, the post of Chief Information Commissioner and the ten information commissioners are lying vacant for the last six months ever since Mr. Iqbal Ahmed retired on December 31, 2012. It has been estimated that nearly 13,000 second appeals and over 3000 complaints are pending with the Stae Inforamtion Commission due to the absence of any incumbent.
Earlier, the RTI activist Ajay Dubey had filed a petition in the High Court, hearing which the court had directed the state government to fill the vacncies in the state information commission (Link - http://www.rtifoundationofindia.com/hc-directs-government-fill-vacant-posts-informatio-3127). After the review order by the Supreme Court in the Namit Sharma case, the state government issued the advertisement.
