Land acquisition for Sinnar railway link in a deadlock
2 Dec, 2012Nashik collectorate was requested for the land acquisition process by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) for alignment of railway track between Odha and Gulwanch (Sinnar). It was claimed that the alignment would be a part of Nashik-Pune railway track and hence was for public interest.
However, reply to an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed that the Central Railways do not have any such project. The reply states that the alignment was meant for creating siding for India Bulls for which the land of nearly 2,100 farmers from Nashik, Niphad and Sinnar talukas was being acquired.
The Collector had reportedly said earlier that he would convey any opposition from the farmers to the state government but has now decided to meet every individual farmer and try to take his consent over the land acquisition.
