Lack of proper maintenance of record in case of Dasara festivities
7 Oct, 2013Reply provided by the District Administration, Srirangapatna, to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act shows that Rs 65,59,086 were released by the District Administration for the celebration of Dasara against an expenditure mentioned to the tune of Rs 60,19459. Out of the remaining amount of 5,39,627, a sum of Rs 5,27,909 was remitted to the Deputy Commissioner on one occasion and Rs 11,718 on the other occasion but no clue could be provided about the official to whom it was remitted.
A detailed scrutiny of the records shows an interesting reading: The records show the expenses as:
- Rs 2,17,679 for food expenditure,
- Rs 26,156 for howdah,
- Rs 6,38,376 for mementos,
- Rs 1.86 lakh for cultural troupes,
- Rs 21,706 for vehicles and petrol,
- Rs 30,550 for crackers,
- Rs 46,750 for photograph and videograph,
- Rs 1,28,395 for wrestling competition,
- Rs 91,960 for newspaper advertisements,
- Rs 9,600 for electricity,
