Judiciary knows about the corruption happening under their noses
26 Jan, 2014Friends,
We call ourselves activists and journalists because we fight for truth and justice. We speak out wherever it is necessary, not only where it is safe and convenient. If we don’t take up a battle to reform the judiciary... if we don’t raise our voices against the ongoing injustices in courts, who will?
The Chief Justices and chief metropolitan magistrates know about the corruption happening under their noses in various departments, such as the registry and the department that makes cause-lists. They know how public prosecutors take bribes to water-down cases and to not argue.
And yet they pretend to be ignorant.
And we on our part remain silent because we are afraid.
Come, let us stop being afraid to say that the proverbial emperor is not wearing any clothes!
When thousands of such postcards start piling up on the tables of all chief justices, judges and magistrates, maybe -- just maybe -- they will sit up and take notice.
And things will begin to change for the better.
Come, let us make that day happen!
Things can always be improved if we try. So let's keep trying.
