Is the governor’s report to the centre under the purview of RTI?
29 Dec, 2012An application was filed with the Rajbhawan of Chhattisgarh under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking copies of governor's report to the President on the state's law and order situation.
The public information officer (PIO) of Rajbhawan declined to provide the information citing that the governor's periodic reports to the President and union home ministry regarding the state's law and order situation was confidential.
The applicant then went for the second appeal before the State Information Commission (SIC) which, after hearing the case, has issued show-cause notice to the Rajbhawan PIO and asked him as to why a penalty should not be imposed on him for not providing information under the RTI Act.
