Goa state government accepts resignation of the Information Commissioner

The Goa government accepted the resignation of Information Commissioner of the State Information Commission (SIC) Mr. Pradeep Padwal. He had submitted his resignation following the Supreme Court ruling in Namit Sharma case that information commissioners should have judicial backgrounds.

Another prospective candidate for the post of Information Commissioner of the SIC Mr. Pandurang Nadkarni, had withdrawn his candidature following allegations against him. Transparency in the appointment of the Information Commissioners is the need of the hour.
