Freshly appointed IAS puts information about his assets on display
12 Mar, 2013Ashutosh Salil, a fresher from the IAS academy, has set a new trend by displaying his asset declaration. He has become the first bureaucrat in Maharashtra to disclose such information outside his chamber.
2010 batch officer, Salil, has got his first posting in the naxal-affected Chandrapur district of Maharashtra as the sub-divisional magistrate and tribal development officer. He has displayed details of his pay bank balance, provident fund and assets right outside his office chamber.
As per norms set by department of personnel and training (DoPT), all IAS officers have to post detailed information about their movable and immovable properties and those owned by their spouses along with their bank balance and the source of funds used to acquire the assets. The information can be accessed through the website of DoPT. However, the freshly recruited IAS said that the common man doesn’t have much access to internet and that is why he displayed the information. He also said that he would try to put on display the property details wherever he is posted in future.
