What should an applicant do if he suspects tampering of records?

The suspected tampering with records is a serious allegation which is dealt with all seriousness by the CIC whenever any complaint is filed with it. Where there is any evidence of tampering of records, the Information Commission has:

  1. directed punitive action including Vigilance enquiry.
  2. referred to the police for filing an FIR for alleged illegal tampering with the official documents in the office of PIO.
