Enquiry ordered into allegations of social boycott for filing RTI application

According to reports, a beedi businessman and a member of the Karnataka State Beary Sahitya Academy, Mr. M. Mohammad Kalladka has filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim. He has alleged that his family is being discriminated against by the Muttalib Juma Masjid in Goodinabali (near Bantwal town) following his an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act raising questions about the functioning of the School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) of the Hayatulah Islam Aided School.
After his RTI application, the masjid management took up the matter at a meeting in January and Mr. Kalladka claimed that he was asked why he had filed an application under the RTI Act which had insulted the management accompanied with a threat of boycott. He further said that his luncheon was boycotted by the masjid mullahs. The president of the Masjid Board has replied that there was no anger of any sort against Mr. Kalladka and the accusations were untrue.
A Wakf Board inquiry has been ordered by the district administration into contentions of social boycott of the family.
