e-RTI introduced in Central Railway
The Central Railway has introduced e-RTI to dispose any online RTI applications submitted to any of its PIO. Now, the central railways will upload any application that comes to them online on their internal portal so that it can be viewed by all the 27 Public Information Officers (PIO’s) belonging to various departments. This would permit different PIO’s to have a look at any RTI application simultaneously allowing them to reply to a question pertaining to their respective department. This would make the work easy and the transfer of application and compilation of the information would be quicker. It would not only benefit RTI applicants, but would also give relief to the PIO’s.
During 2011-12, the Central Railways has dealt with 8147 original RTI applications, 1344 first appeals and 175 second appeals.
