19 Jun, 2013In a bid to make the citizens’ access to information much easier, the government has extended the facility of online filing of applications under the Right to Information (RTI) Act to President’s secretariat, Vice-President’s secretariat, and Ministry of External Affairs among others.
Online facility of filing application under the RTI Act has also been extended to other ministries viz. Food Processing Industries, Health & Family Welfare, Home Affairs, Culture, Information & Broadcasting and Road Transport & Highways. Some other departments like Department of Agricultural Research & Education, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Department of Commerce, Department of Disinvestment and Department of Public Enterprises have also been brought under the ambit of online RTI.
However, citizens have been asked not to file application for information pertaining to state governments. The website clearly state that applications concerning public authorities under state governments would be returned and the amount won’t be refunded.
