e-payment facility for the RTI applicants to start shortly in Odisha
22 Oct, 2013The RTI applicants wishing to file an application under Right to Information (RTI) Act with the Odisha state government will shortly be able to make e-payments to seek information online. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) is likely to complete the process of adding the e-payment facility on the website of Odisha in two months.
www.rtiodisha.gov.in would be one of the earliest state government sites to operationalize the online payment system through the use of credit / debit card. Information and public relations secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena said the government should soon use software that would translate information written in English into Odia.
He had come to attend a workshop organized by The Times of India and NCPRI, at SAI International School regarding RTI.
The poor functioning of the e-despatch system which has been functioning since 2008 at www.edodisha.gov.in received criticism from activists. The e-despatch system has stopped hosting letters of certain departments like home, revenue, commerce and transport etc. have not been visible for the past few months. The letters of some of the departments can only be seen by the officers to whom the letters were addressed even though they are uploaded, thus, a common citizen cannot view them.
