DoPT looking for suitable agency to study implementation of RTI Act
17 Apr, 2013The Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has put the draft request for Proposal for selection of implementing agency for a 360 degree study on implementation of Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 in the public domain.
The implementation of the transparency act is to be studied from the perspectives of both – the information seeker and the information provider. The step will help in strengthening the ground level implementation of the Act.
On demand side, the study will include the trends in filing of RTI applications across the country and will determine the level of satisfaction among the citizens regarding the functioning of the act and the citizens’ perception about decrease in the extent of corruption in the country.
On supply side, the study will include determining the cost involved in dissemination of information and recording the experience of public authorities in dealing with RTI applications and appeals at different levels.
