Deadline of the car parking project extended by NDMC
In 2008, a project was conceived by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) to construct a parking lot at Subhash maidan (Parade Ground) in Delhi. The construction work for the four storey underground parking, which was started in January 2010 with an estimated cost of Rs. 52.8 crore, was to be completed by 31 December, 2012 the deadline set by the NDMC.
The details of the project were sought through an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act which was earlier rejected by the municipal corporation. When the matter was brought before the Central Information Commission (CIC) the corporation had to provide the sought information.
The data provided in the response reveals that though the car parking was formally inaugurated on February 15, 2012 the construction is still going on. The reply also shows that the deadline of the project has been extended by a month.
