CIC: The PIO to prepare a comprehensive note regarding the authors shortlisted for the award and criteria on which books of such authors were selected along with copy of notification for awards to be given by Ministry of Culture for the next session
1. The appellant stated that an application was sent for award of his Hindi book Bhrastachar Ka Bol Bala to the Department along with designated proforma. He sought information:
(i) whether his book was received in time and sent for evaluation for award, documents and comments of evaluator as well as department/section
(ii) whether the book is still with the office and could not be sent for evaluation or kept for next evaluation or book was no found suitable for putting it in process of award, if so, reasons for the same
(iii) how many total books were received for award, how many of these were found suitable to send them to evaluator/referees and how many were found suitable for award, complete list with book’s author name
(iv) whether next year/session award scheme is in process, would like to keep the book for next award
(v) application form for next session award, copy of advertisement in case it is released (vii) certified copies of all note sheets, correspondences, pages created, rules, regulation, norm.
2. The officers representing the Public Authority stated that they had not received the book sent by the appellant as claimed by him. They further stated that the book mentioned by the appellant is not related to the subject-matter for the award given by the Ministry of Culture.
3. The Commission directs the CPIO to prepare a comprehensive note regarding the shortlisted authors for the award and criteria on which books of such authors were selected by the Public Authority along with copy of notification for awards to be given by Ministry of Culture for the next session, within 30 days.
