Change in final scores of 28 Pune engineering students recommended
31 Jan, 2013Nearly 1.5 lakh students from different branches appeared for engineering exams held in April-May 2012 by the University of Pune out of which over 70,000 applied for re-evaluation. There were 5,278 students who sought photocopies of answer-sheets under the RTI Act and 171 students lodged a written complaint with the University of Pune (UoP) being dissatisfied with assessment.
A three member fact-finding panel led by former pro-vice-chancellor Arun Adusl was set up by the UoP to look into grievances of engineering students related to evaluation of answer-sheets. The panel found 28 complaints as genuine has recommended changes in the final score of these students.
The UoP Vice-Chancellor Wasudeo Gade has informed that the assessors and re-evaluators involved in assessment of answer-sheets will be given stern punishment. He added that all the students have been informed of the change. The VC informed that the police is investigating into ‘cash for marks’ scam in the university to which the university was committed to offer all possible support.
