Celebrating the anniversary of the Right to Information Act, 2005
18 Oct, 2014On the 10th Anniversary of RIGHT TO INFORMATION in India,
We thank God, our Providential Father, who makes all things possible, for the good of His children, by sending us instruments that help us to save our democracy and enjoy our freedom, RIGHT TO INFORMATION, being a very important one of them.
We toast the many stalwarts, activists and facilitators who have worked relentlessly to ensure the implementation of this legislation in its true spirit.
We rejoice with those who have been empowered through their small successes achieved through using this Act.
We share the frustrations and disappointments of those who were facing difficulties in getting the information they wanted and specially those who did not get their appeals heard in time.
We salute those who have risked their lives and those of their families against many odds to protect this right.
We pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in the cause of RTI and have become martyrs in the “True Swaraj” movement
We pledge to continue networking, collaborating and working towards saving the RTI Act from threats of amendments, dangers of adverse judicial verdicts and weak & inefficient Information Commissions
“Aache din ayega jab Sache din ayega”
“Lucky you, lucky me, to have RTI…”
Together, we trek the journey of another decade to a brighter future in the Sunshine of RTI 2005.
