Date of receipt of application should be mentioned in the PIOs reply
Background of the case
The appellant sought information about the details of fund given as international relief / assistance by Govt. of India and the name of the beneficiary countries since 2006 till 2011; the number of soldiers and doctors posted in countries according to request of UNO along with the name of the countries; the monthly expenses on such persons along with the details of the extra benefit provided to soldiers, officer and doctors who are working for UNO on behalf of government of India. The PIO provided certain information in tabular form with which the appellant was not satisfied. As the FAA did not respond to the first appeal, the appellant filed the second appeal before Commission.
View of the CIC
The Commission noted that the PIO in his reply has stated that the information related to the UN Division is enclosed at annexure-B which the appellant claimed not to have received. The Commission directed the PIO to provide the information. Further, the Commission accepted the Appellant’s contention that it would be good practice for the PIOs to mention the date on which the RTI application was received by them in their replies.
