BSNL accepts wrong person allotted rented accommodation
13 Sep, 2013
A retired employee (ex-deputy general manager) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) had applied for the allotment of a rented accommodation (quarter number 3 in type-V quarters) in Sanchar Colony, Ludhiana. However, the reply to an application filed in this regard under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, has revealed that the allotment of the quarter was unjust and even mala fide.
The reply shows that the quarter in question was allotted to a divisional engineer who was not entitled for type V quarter. The reply also shows that the engineer had applied for the rented accommodation three months after the retired deputy general manager had done so. The RTI reply further shows that the mandatory 15-day notification period was also not issued and the quarter was allotted to the divisional engineer within three days of vacating the house. The reply also stated that quarter number 5/type V was also allotted in the same manner.
However, despite the BSNL accepting the wrongs in the allotment and despite sending repeated complaints to the Department of Communication and IT, no action has been taken and the allottee is still residing in the house while the deserving applicant is waiting for the Nigam to take action.
