Awareness programme at Pudukotti for RTI Act
4 Jul, 2012Under the ‘Siksha Ka Haq Abhiyan’ scheme, a training programme was held at Pudukottai of Tamilnadu for the volunteers of the Right to Information (RTI) Act to spread awareness about the RTI Act. The Pudukottai district has 13 blocks and each block has 30 members. Therefore, a total of 390 members comprising students, non-governmental organisations, retired headmasters and women members of self-help groups would undergo the training in batches. The trainees would inspect all the schools in their respective block and ascertain the availability of infrastructure, its utilisation and other needs.
The Pudukottai district accounts for 1,883 schools and the awareness teams would sensitise students and parents to importance of the Right to Information (RTI) Act. There have been calls to make the RTI Act a part of the curriculum.
