Are the 57 missing army personnel held in Pakistani jails?

Large number of military personnel, who have gone missing in the official records during the wars with Pakistan, might be held in Pakistani jails as stated by the Ministry of defence in an RTI reply. The family members of the missing persons have been running from pillar to post to know about them.
In this regard, an application was filed with the Ministry of Defence under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking to get the details about the army personnel listed as missing during the Indo-Pak Wars of 1965 and 1971. The reply from the ministry states that a total of 57 defense personnel, who have been listed as having gone missing from the two wars, might be languishing in Pakistani jails. Out of these 57 personnel, twelve are from the two states of Punjab and Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The reply said that among these 12 missing personnel, six belonged to Punjab, five to Haryana and one officer is from Chandigarh. The reply said that out of the 12 personnel from these three places, two had gone missing since 1965 Indo-Pak war and the rest ten were found missing since 1971 war.
