Allegation of scam in issuance of commercial vehicles certificates
11 Dec, 2012A Right to Information (RTI) activist, Vivek garg, had lodged a complaint alleging that the Delhi government gave the contract for lane testing of commercial vehicles to grant them fitness certificates without inviting any tender. Vivek Garg has been associated with the BJP.
Among those alleged of corruption include the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, former transport minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, former transport commissioner R K Verma and ESP India to which the contract was awarded.
The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) had submitted a status report in the court giving clean chit to the Chief Minister and the Transport Minister contending that although the contract was awarded to a private firm without a tender “no irregularities” could be found on part of the chief minister and the transport minister as it was based on the conditions approved by the Cabinet of GNCTD (Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi). Now, the Anti-Corruption Branch has submitted before the court that it will register an FIR in the matter and also file an investigation report before the court on the next date of hearing.
