14 out of 35 five star hotels in Delhi have government permit
4 Jun, 2013The reply to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed that most of the five star hotels in Delhi have been operating without proper government certificates.
The reply, provided by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), has stated that out of 35 five star hotels operating in the capital only 14 possess the consent to operate (CTO). CTO is granted for five years after physical verifications installed safeguards under Air and Water Acts.
The reply to the application also states that only ten of these 35 five star hotels have environmental clearance which is a one-time certificate granted after studying the possible environmental impacts the completed project might have on its surroundings.
The applicant alleged that for non issuance of clearances DPCC is also to be blamed as most of the hotels have already applied for the CTO.
Meanwhile, the state government has asked all the five star hotels to submit their plans along with the details of resource utilization and waste generation.
